Sports for Children

The implementation of sports programs provides children with the opportunity to learn teamwork, participation and leadership qualities. Physical activity also stimulates health improvements and offers children equal opportunities to engage in activities. Therefore, sports can foster development in developing nations.

COMMIT recognized the importance of sports in the lives of these children in Nicaragua. We have brought sports equipment over the years to the children in our adopted villages and saw the joy that these items have brought to the recipients. To see the smiling face of a child is amazing and heartwarming.

We wanted to do more so decided to try our hand at sports camps for the school childre. After finding out the ages and number of children, our team got to work, picking logos and ironing them on the many coloured t-shirts. Thanks Linsey VanKooten for your hours spent printing off the logos for us. You did a fantastic job.

Sports Camps 2023

This year we had planned to run sports camps with 400 children in 7 villages. T-shirts were made, balls donated by ADIDAS and a few sponsors found.

Unfortunately the container was not released on time while our team was in Nicaragua, so we were unable to hold our sports camps. Once the boxes are released they wil be held for the next team and the camps to be held in October. Stay tuned!!
